I’m not pushing “my” five words/phrases to the exclusion of all others. They just happen to be ones that work for me … and I’ve now seen them work for countless others. David Ogilvy, the premier ad man, ordered a colleague to create an “immortal” ad for children’s clothing made of viyella, a British blend of cotton and wool. (“Immortal” is another terrific—stretch!—word.) Speaking of immortal: The immortal dance producer Sergei Diaghilev said to one of his dancers, “Amaze me.” (Three loud cheers for “amazing” as a project criterion!) Wallpaper magazine cited a grocery store for a major design award: “This new store rocks.” (“This project rocks” gets my nod of distinct approval!) So pick your own wild/woolly/ stretch/cool/rockin’ criteria. Okay?
